What is Wireless BACnet?

Wireless BACnet (W-BACnet) is the wireless extension of the open BACnet communication standard. While traditional BACnet systems transmit their data via a bus line or Ethernet, W-BACnet uses wireless communication.

This allows sensors, room control units, and other field devices to be integrated into existing building automation systems without the need for additional data cables. The building management system receives the same information as it would with a wired installation—including temperature, relative humidity, CO₂ concentration, air quality, setpoints, operating states, and control commands. For designers, integrators, and operators, the familiar BACnet communication remains fully intact—only the transmission path is wireless.
